Monica Z
MONICA Z – A Musical Tribute to One of Our Greatest Jazz Icons
Welcome to a jazzy hour with Wihlborg Jazzband, joined by Mia Sommar and Monica Lindgren, as they dive into the life of singer, actress, and revue queen Monica Zetterlund. Her musical legacy is extraordinary, and with her impeccable timing, emotional depth, and melodic sensitivity, she mastered every style and composition. She was witty, swinging, and generous - equally at home on the revue stage and in the concert hall.
This jazz café offers a blend of smooth tunes and storytelling, with glimpses into Monica’s rich life. Tage Danielsson once described her as “a sprig of lingonberry placed in a cocktail glass,” and we remember her as one of the greatest jazz icons of our time.
Wihlborg Jazzband plays easygoing, swinging jazz from the 1930s to today - featuring both covers and original compositions. Band members: Jan-Eric "Sunke" Sundkvist (saxophone and clarinet), Tor Holmström (piano), Stefan Lindberg (saxophone and flute), Samuel Löfgren (drums), and Jan-Åke "Wille" Wihlborg (bass and band leader).
Mia Sommar, originally from Partille and now a proud Skellefteå resident, has captivated many with her remarkable voice. A singer, musician, and vocal coach, she has performed in numerous concerts. Later this spring, she will also appear with the ALMA vocal ensemble on May 24.
Monica Lindgren is a comedian and theatre producer with over 40 years on the revue and theatre stage. When she’s not entertaining or managing productions, she shares book recommendations on the TV show Go'kväll. She loves humor but isn’t afraid of seriousness—perfectly suited for writing and holding together this performance. Expect laughter, warmth, recognition, and a few delightful tunes!
