Sara kulturskog - a place for culture and climate

In Östra Falmark, a new forest is taking shape. For every cultural experience held at Sara kulturhus, new trees are planted here - both as a tribute to the past and a promise for the future. Sara kulturskog is a collaboration between Sara kulturhus and Holmen.

Sara kulturhus is a 20-storey wooden building in the heart of Skellefteå, serving as a hub for culture and connection. The building is largely made from timber sourced from Holmen’s forests, processed into construction material at Holmen’s sawmill in Bygdsiljum, and delivered and assembled by Martinsons, part of Holmen.

Sara kulturskog extends this partnership, where cultural events at the venue become new seedlings in the forest. These seedlings store carbon dioxide and may eventually become climate-smart products - like the panel this text is mounted on, or future cultural buildings.
