A performance about what makes the people of Skellefteå happy

When were you happiest? Where were you happiest? What does happiness feel like?

The performance HAPPINESS is about love, longing and pleasure. Desire and the abyss. The unfathomable, magnificent, sad and banal of being human.

It's about Solvej who likes to freeze at the bus stop, about Bengt Arne who doesn't want to sit and cuddle on the couch and about Mia who has gone into a wall. About Sven who loves his stick and Wahid who lost his words. HAPPINESS is the beach where we swam, to ride at a wild gallop and to listen to forbidden music. HAPPINESS is the relationships, what binds us together.

Based on interviews with people in Skellefteå, the performance weaves together different stories through movement, image, music and text and creates a universe for all these lives and events to exist in. A bustling jumble of people, times and places that flow through and next to each other. A vibrant movement and chorus about Skellefteå, now and then and in the future.

HAPPINESS is a visual, physical and humorous reflection on the small and big moments in our lives, our shortcomings and our wonderful human capacity to love, laugh and enjoy. A performance that is like life itself.

On stage we see fifteen actors, professionals and amateurs. The director is Anne Jonsson, who is also a trained mime and choreographer - and primarily works with movement-based performing arts.
